Associate Director – Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Overseeing the Finance function strategically, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes, maintaining consistent standards, and effective resource allocation while serving as the escalation point for complex technical, operational, and client-related issues.

• Leading, supporting, and developing the Finance Manager and Assistant Managers, fostering a high-performance culture with clear expectations, accountability, and ongoing coaching.

• Monitoring workflow, capacity, and utilization across the team, ensuring effective work allocation and adherence to deadlines.

• Identifying inefficiencies and spearheading improvements in processes, systems, and controls, including automation and transformation initiatives, while collaborating effectively with relevant colleagues.

• Contributing to the development and management of the budgetary process, monitoring performance against targets, and identifying improvement areas to support leadership in cost control, recovery, and profitability.

• Providing guidance on complex accounting and financial matters, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practices, and maintaining oversight of regulatory developments for appropriate implementation within the team.

• Ensuring that robust controls and governance are established across the Finance team to support audits and regulatory reviews, managing and resolving any identified issues appropriately.

• Assisting the senior management team in shaping the future direction of the Finance function, including its operating model, structure, and service delivery, while contributing to broader business initiatives such as growth, system enhancements, and multijurisdictional alignment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive technical knowledge and proven technical proficiency acquired within the internal finance sector, along with at least 5 years of experience in a senior management role, including raw data implementation and management of data visualization software.

• Successful completion of ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent) and adherence to CPD requirements.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals, including key stakeholders, and the capability to develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships.

• Proficiency in producing, reviewing, and comprehending a variety of documentation, often of a complex nature, related to comprehensive advice and legislation or managing intricate transactions, with a strong focus on detail and accuracy.

• Demonstrated critical analysis skills to review existing processes and procedures, along with the ability to generate ideas and concepts and present them to the Board, demonstrating a commitment to follow through to completion.

• Proven ability to meet deadlines and adhere to project plans (some of which may require long-term planning) without explicit direction to ensure objectives are met.

• Capacity to evaluate and select the most suitable solutions for various situations while adopting a commercial perspective that considers the impact on business and client service excellence.

• Strong leadership skills that reflect the ability to understand, inspire, and develop others, complemented by personal qualities of integrity, discretion, and tact.
