• Define and lead the internal AI transformation strategy at CHAI, pinpointing areas where AI can significantly enhance enterprise operations, internal workflows, and staff productivity across global teams.
• Collaborate with the Manager of AI Transformation to design, develop, and deploy custom AI-driven tools, actively engaging in coding and AI-native development environments (e.g., Claude Code and Cowork) on key projects; establish the technical standards for team deliverables.
• Co-manage CHAI's AI tool portfolio in partnership with the Innovation team, overseeing the assessment, selection, procurement, and continuous governance of AI platforms and tools utilized throughout the organization; create effective AI governance frameworks that safeguard CHAI while maintaining agility.
• Propel the organization-wide adoption of internal AI tools across CHAI’s global offices, employing strategies that effectively engage staff with varying levels of technical expertise in diverse locations and roles; develop metrics to monitor adoption, engagement, and return on investment.
• Oversee and mentor the Manager of AI Transformation, providing clear technical guidance and professional support while making a meaningful investment in their development.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, along with a minimum of 10 years of pertinent professional experience, including direct leadership in AI, digital transformation, or technology adoption initiatives at scale within complex organizations.
• Proven hands-on experience in building – you have personally designed, developed, and launched AI or software tools utilized by others.
• Practical knowledge of software engineering tools and practices, including version control (e.g., GitHub), automated testing, and code review.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, AI development frameworks, and AI-native development environments (e.g., Claude Code and Cowork).
• Extensive, practical understanding of modern AI tools – particularly large language models, RAG, and memory management – along with a sophisticated grasp of their capabilities, limitations, and suitable enterprise applications.
• Experience in managing and nurturing technical staff, with the capacity to uphold a high technical standard and facilitate professional growth.
• A genuine commitment to CHAI’s mission and an understanding of the operational challenges faced by a global health organization working within resource-limited, cross-cultural contexts.
• Flexible work arrangements - position can be located in any of the regions where CHAI operates, subject to work authorization and necessary approvals.
