This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Engage actively in organized training sessions covering insurance policies, specific claim procedures, systems, and protocols, including virtual, classroom, and on-the-job training.
• Examine, investigate, and document first-party property claims under close supervision.
• Collect information from policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and third-party providers.
• Acquire skills to investigate and assess all relevant facts and information (including but not limited to analyzing leases, contracts, by-laws, and other pertinent documents that may have an impact).
• Determine and apply coverage for property damages according to policy terms.
• Accurately establish the scope of damages for building and contents losses, which serves as a foundation for written estimates and/or computer-assisted estimates.
• Provide timely and professional communication to customers, claimants, and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain precise records of claim activities in claim management systems.
• Show openness to continuous learning, especially in AI and digital transformation.
• Adapt to new technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts while sustaining productivity and service quality.
• To fulfill the essential functions of this role, obtaining and maintaining Insurance License(s) and/or a UAS Remote Pilot Certification may be necessary to comply with federal, state, and Travelers requirements.
• Generally, required Insurance License(s) must be secured within three months of commencing the role, and ongoing continuing education requirements must be upheld as mandated.
• This role requires participation in our Catastrophe Response Program, which may involve deployment to assist customers in other states.
• The individual must be able to access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure, which is physically demanding and necessitates the ability to carry, set up, and climb a ladder weighing approximately 38 to 49 pounds, walk on roofs, and enter confined spaces (such as attic staircases and entries, crawl spaces, etc.).
• While specific territory or daily responsibilities may not necessitate ladder climbing, the incumbent must be capable of safely climbing a ladder when responding to a catastrophe, which is a requirement of the position.
• Carry out other assigned duties.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Prior internship or work experience in customer service or insurance.
• Willingness to obtain an active adjuster license as required by state law.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); eager to learn claims management and estimating software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the capability to convey information clearly and professionally.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions within established authority.
• Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to providing a positive experience for insureds and claimants.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Basic conflict resolution skills; willingness to learn techniques for facilitating productive discussions and negotiations.
• Demonstrated openness to continuous learning.
