This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Dakota.

📋 Description

• Effectively and appropriately communicate with team members and external parties.

• Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery in support of active litigation cases.

• Examine litigation case files and pleadings to determine the necessary actions.

• Advocate for the client’s interests in various litigation environments.

• Use proprietary internal software to accurately update and document the status of each account within the assigned inventory.

• Analyze and manage litigation inventory reports and case files as directed by the Managing Attorney to ensure compliance with the firm and client expectations for litigation workflow.

• Adhere to all standard operating procedures set by the client and the firm.

• Be prepared to travel to various courtrooms within the branch office jurisdiction as needed.

• Prepare for and represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, including developing case strategies, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and delivering oral arguments.

• Negotiate settlements with consumers and their legal representatives to resolve disputes efficiently, while safeguarding client interests.

• Assess case merits, evaluate risk exposure, and provide strategic legal advice.

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and court procedures.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be admitted to practice law and in good standing in North Dakota and South Dakota.

• Ability or willingness to waive into Wyoming and Montana is preferred.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Highly motivated self-starter.

• Eagerness to learn.

• Ability to manage and prioritize a substantial caseload.

• Capable of communicating in a common language with individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing.

• Proficient in operating a computer, phone, or similar device.

• Able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule.

• Must be able to read and comprehend documents and correspondence specific to the position.

• Minimum of one year of litigation/trial experience is preferred.

• Working knowledge of civil procedure is preferred.

• Debt collection experience is preferred.

• Prior experience in a high-volume environment is preferred.
