This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Draft and assess pleadings, motions, and various litigation-related documents pertaining to product liability or complex litigation cases.
• Prepare, evaluate, and respond to written discovery while managing the exchange of discovery with multiple parties.
• Formulate case strategies, defenses, and trial themes with increasing independence, supported by mentorship and collaboration.
• Conduct research and analyze relevant state and federal case law, statutes, and regulatory frameworks that apply to complex litigation matters.
• Interview, prepare, and collaborate with fact witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives for testimony in litigation and regulatory proceedings.
• Take and defend depositions of lay witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.
• Argue motions and engage in court appearances under appropriate supervision.
• Draft pretrial reports and aid in case evaluations, exposure analysis, and risk assessments.
• Engage in mediations, settlement conferences, status conferences, and hearings.
• Contribute to innovative problem-solving and strategic planning for case resolution.
• Assist in settlement negotiations with plaintiffs and opposing counsel.
• Establish and maintain strong client relationships through professional, responsive, and inclusive oral and written communication.
• Collaborate with and assist in supervising paralegals and litigation support staff.
• Support Shareholders, Partners, and Senior Counsel on complex litigation matters.
• Meet annual billable hour expectations and adhere to firm timekeeping policies.
• Participate in business development, networking, and client-facing opportunities that align with interests and experience.
• Engage in bar associations, professional organizations, and community involvement that promote inclusion and professional growth.
• Cultivate a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace while contributing positively to the firm culture.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by Management.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice in California is required; additional licenses are a plus.
• 0–10 years of litigation experience, ideally in product liability, toxic tort, environmental, insurance defense, construction, or complex civil litigation.
• Prior experience as a paralegal, judicial clerkships, internships, clinics, or externships will be considered.
• Experience in a billable-hour law firm environment is preferred.
• Demonstrated interest in complex litigation with a willingness to develop subject-matter expertise.
• Strong client-service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with a diverse range of clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
• Capability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with FileVine or other document management systems is a plus.
