This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Assess submissions and financial requirements to evaluate risk acceptability in accordance with underwriting guidelines and standards.
• Analyze the financial stability, creditworthiness, capacity, and related financial data of applicants to determine bond obligation risk and overall credit quality.
• Utilize pricing components, rating methodologies, predictive modeling tools, and underwriting disciplines to accurately price risk and reduce exposure.
• Prepare and evaluate underwriting decisions, rate appeals, requirements, status updates, and declinations to support outcomes within the assigned territory.
• Oversee the assigned portfolio to meet targets for premium, profitability, retention, product mix, new business, and overall portfolio performance.
• Develop and maintain producer and client relationships by prioritizing resources, creating distributor plans, enhancing pipeline opportunities, and promoting profitable growth.
• Bachelor’s degree and AFSB designation preferred.
• A minimum of 7+ years of Surety underwriting experience is required.
• Advanced knowledge in Surety underwriting, including techniques, regulations, guidelines, coverages, and underwriting tools.
• Strong financial, credit analysis, and business development skills, with the capability to grow a profitable book, identify customer needs, and finalize deals.
