Assistant Research Scientist – Remote Sensing, Geospatial Data Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Oversee the remote sensing and geospatial analytics segment of the Texas Conservation & Sustainability Initiative (TCSI) - focusing on the monitoring, measuring, reporting, and verification (MMRV) aspect of the project.

β€’ Engage in the synthesis, integration, and analysis of extensive datasets acquired from remote sensing platforms, including satellite imagery, online databases, and ground sensors, while creating pipelines for multi-source data integration systems in the agricultural sector.

β€’ Contribute to the publication of peer-reviewed articles and assist in grant writing efforts.

β€’ Facilitate projects aimed at the development of digital twin systems, models, and user interfaces for visualizations, mapping, forecasting, and recommendations.

β€’ Guide graduate students in the fields of geospatial science/engineering and remote sensing.

β€’ Execute additional job-related responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Ph.D. in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field.

β€’ Relevant professional experience in the field.

β€’ Proficient in processing, analyzing, and modeling remote sensing data, particularly satellite imagery (both optical and radar/SAR).

β€’ Expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and geospatial data analytics.

β€’ Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, geospatial databases, and large-scale data processing workflows is preferred.

β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of publishing in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

β€’ Capability to collaborate in interdisciplinary research settings and actively contribute to team-oriented projects.
