• Assist in the creation, execution, and distribution of best practices for special education policies and procedures.
• Support administrators and educators in training and executing special education programs and services.
• Address the curriculum requirements of distinct learning needs as outlined in Individual Education Plans for students receiving special education support.
• Maintain ongoing communication with districts, intermediate units, and state officials to ensure compliance and enhance program quality.
• Aid in the development, adherence, and upkeep of essential special education documentation (e.g., Review of Existing Data (RED), Multidisciplinary Evaluation and Eligibility Group Summary (MEEGS), and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)).
• Assist in confirming fiscal compliance for special education programs, including adherence to IDEA Part B mandates and associated reporting.
• Collaborate with testing personnel to guarantee appropriate accommodations are provided during state assessments.
• Engage with teachers, students, and families regarding academic, behavioral, and special education issues; facilitate the timely identification and enrollment of students with special needs.
• Work directly with parents and students (both general and special education) as necessary to address concerns and enhance outcomes.
• Support the alignment of educational programs with state and local standards; aid in the development and implementation of the Student Achievement Improvement Plan.
• Help convey the school’s mission and vision to stakeholders, utilizing communication methods suited for a primarily virtual environment.
• Inform school leadership and staff promptly about changes in special education practices and legislation.
• Encourage the integration of special education students into all school activities and promote collaboration between general and special education teachers and administrators.
• Assist with the supervision, coaching, and evaluation of special education staff and contractors; support professional development that aligns with identified needs.
• Bachelor’s degree; three (3) years of experience in special education teaching or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proficiency in both in-person and virtual communication methods; strong customer service orientation.
• Capability to interpret data to inform academic and behavioral decisions.
• Proficiency in Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and online learning systems; strong web skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within and between assigned areas for meetings, professional development, and school activities.
• Ability to pass required background checks.
• Special Education Teacher Certification (EC-12).
• Ability to obtain a state administrative/leadership license if necessary.
