Assistant Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Assisting with the end-to-end month-end close process — ensuring accurate reporting, holding yourself and the senior accountant accountable to deadlines, escalating any obstacles, and delivering a timely closed book.

• Aiding in the year-end audit and quarterly reviews — preparing and reconciling workpapers.

• Managing technical accounting workstreams in NetSuite — including revenue recognition and sales and use tax compliance.

• Mentoring and developing two senior accountants through structured feedback and coaching.

• Supporting the Corporate Controller with various ad hoc projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA designation with over 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including time spent in public practice (Big 4 required) and in the industry (SaaS preferred).

• Practical experience managing a full-cycle close in a multi-entity SaaS or other rapidly growing, recurring-revenue business, with extensive knowledge of NetSuite.

• Proven experience as the primary owner of an external audit.

• A history of effectively navigating ambiguity and translating it into actionable solutions.

• Strong technical accounting expertise in ASPE and US GAAP.

• Experience with NetSuite is required.

• Familiarity with Ramp, Avalara, and Anthropic (or other AI experience) is preferred.

• Comfort in utilizing AI tools as part of your daily workflow, along with exceptional written communication skills.
