This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop original multiple-choice questions in chemistry that assess deep understanding of the subject.
• Create challenging, self-contained, precise, unambiguous problems that can be solved independently.
• Review existing chemistry questions for accuracy, clarity, rigor, and completeness.
• Detect conceptual errors, ambiguous assumptions, quantitative inaccuracies, and issues related to solvability.
• Edit questions and answer choices while verifying calculations, mechanisms, chemical reasoning, and correct answers.
• Produce assessment content across various chemistry domains, including materials, polymer, electronic, industrial, process, energy-storage, environmental, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, food, consumer, and specialty chemistry.
• Assess structure–property relationships, synthesis, processing, characterization, reaction conditions, yields, selectivity, scale-up, separation, purification, catalysis, and process optimization.
• Formulate questions related to batteries, electrochemistry, environmental chemistry, pollutants, remediation, sustainability, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, formulations, additives, stability, compatibility, and product performance.
• Provide 1–5 academic references for each question as needed.
• Create structured solution explanations and evaluate the difficulty of the questions.
• Ensure consistent scientific and academic quality across benchmark content.
• Contribute to high-quality evaluation materials for advanced AI capabilities.
• Fulfill assigned question-authoring or question-verification tasks without utilizing confidential or proprietary information.
• PhD or current doctoral candidacy in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• A Master's degree may be acceptable for candidates with exceptional expertise in a relevant chemistry subdomain.
• Strong grasp of graduate-level chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and quantitative analysis.
• Expertise in one or more specified chemistry areas, such as materials, polymer, electronic, industrial, process, energy storage, environmental, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, food, or specialty chemistry.
• Proficient in analyzing mechanisms, quantitative relationships, and experimental evidence.
• Excellent written English skills and the ability to convey complex chemical concepts clearly and accurately.
• Academic research publications are highly regarded.
• Experience in laboratory, industrial, pharmaceutical, materials, or chemical manufacturing is beneficial.
• Prior experience in chemistry olympiad writing, examination development, or advanced problem design is highly valued.
• Strong focus on scientific precision, logical consistency, and problem solvability.
• Availability of at least 10 hours per week.
• H1-B and STEM OPT support is not available for this position.
• Flexible scheduling according to project requirements.
• Fully remote and asynchronous work arrangement.
• Part-time independent contractor engagement.
• Expected availability of at least 10 hours per week.
• Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance.
