Applications Engineer – Technical Service

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Assist in the development of thermoforming applications through trials, equipment, and process enhancements for both thin and thick gauge manufacturing.

• Recognize and align the technical performance characteristics of products with new application opportunities identified by the Sales and Marketing teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.

• With a B.S. degree, a minimum of five years of experience in packaging within the extrusion and thermoforming equipment and processes sector.

• Proven expertise in plastics thermoforming for both thin and thick gauge applications.

• Preferred experience in plastic sheet extrusion.

• Strong skills in project management.

• Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time.

• Understanding of key production processes (extrusion, thermoforming, etc.) and polymer behavior.

• Familiarity with polymers used in plastics manufacturing (extrusion – thermoforming).

• Knowledge of essential equipment utilized in extrusion, thermoforming, and part finishing.

• Proficient in effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels, including customers and suppliers.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Capable of drafting operational and project reports, correspondence, policies, and procedures.

• High proficiency in computer applications, notably Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Strong analytical and mathematical skills essential for collecting, interpreting, and acting on process trials and activities.

• Ability to fulfill the physical demands of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
