Application Support Engineer, GCP – Media Platforms

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Honduras.

📋 Description

• Deliver L2/L3 production support for essential media applications.

• Troubleshoot issues related to applications, platforms, and infrastructure across GCP and Kubernetes.

• Analyze logs, metrics, and traces to determine root causes of problems.

• Resolve incidents by utilizing runbooks and SOPs, escalating when necessary.

• Collaborate with Engineering and SRE teams, providing clear technical context.

• Support live streaming pipelines and video transcoding processes.

• Diagnose problems associated with:

• Stream ingest failures.

• Transcoder job errors and performance bottlenecks.

• Output quality, latency, and availability issues.

• Engage in on-call rotations, which may include weekends.

• Document incidents, root cause analyses (RCAs), and corrective and preventive measures.

• Continuously enhance monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and SOPs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in Application Support, Production Support, or Reliability Engineering roles.

• Practical experience with Go, including code reading and debugging.

• Extensive knowledge of Kubernetes and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Proven track record in supporting live streaming and video transcoding workflows.

• Experience participating in on-call rotations.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

• Capability to perform effectively during high-pressure situations.

• Nice to Have:

• Experience in media, broadcasting, or streaming platforms.

• Familiarity with live event operations.

• Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.

• Experience with ServiceNow, PagerDuty, Slack.

• Understanding of SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets).
