Android Framework Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design and implement tailored Android system services, AIDL interfaces, and hardware abstractions for headless AOSP builds.

• Create testable system-level features utilizing Kotlin, Java, Rust, and C++ for direct interfacing between the kernel and application layer.

• Identify intricate OS-level memory leaks, concurrency deadlocks, and performance issues using tools such as Perfetto and Android Profiler.

• Develop automated CTS and VTS test suites, along with unit tests and system update pipelines to ensure fleet reliability over the air.

• Perform root-cause analysis on system tombstones, bug reports, and kernel logs across custom Qualcomm-based hardware platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Hands-on experience in designing versioned service interfaces with AIDL or HIDL to expose hardware features to system applications.

• Expertise in Kotlin and Java, with a solid understanding of OS threading concepts, coroutines, synchronization, and memory management.

• Background in building or troubleshooting custom AOSP environments, shell scripts, init.rc configurations, and SE Linux security policies.

• Ability to trace execution flow across various layers of the Android stack using tools like Perfetto, tracing utilities, and tombstone logs.

• Familiarity with C or C++, Linux kernel drivers, or Qualcomm camera stacks is advantageous.
