AML/FT Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Oversight of AML Policies and Procedures: Design, revise, and continuously improve internal AML policies and procedures, ensuring they align with current regulations in both Brazil and the United States (Bank Secrecy Act – BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, FinCEN), as well as relevant international standards. Facilitate Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Employee (KYE), and Know Your Supplier (KYS) initiatives, maintaining process standardization and data integrity.

• Transaction Monitoring and Investigation: Perform ongoing surveillance of financial transactions to identify potential signs of money laundering, fraud, or terrorist financing, adhering to the requirements of regulatory bodies such as COAF (Brazil) and FinCEN (U.S.). Employ advanced tools and methodologies (including machine learning and data analytics solutions) to detect irregularities, conduct comprehensive investigations, and ensure consistent reporting of suspicious activity reports (SARs).

• Risk Analysis and Compliance: Evaluate risks associated with new products and services, ensuring workflows and processes comply with local and international regulatory mandates. Implement and continuously enhance internal controls to mitigate exposure to money laundering or illicit financing risks, taking into account the specifics of U.S. (BSA, Patriot Act) and Brazilian (Law No. 9.613/98 and Central Bank regulations) legislation.

• Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison for communications and reports directed to regulatory authorities such as COAF (Brazil) and FinCEN (U.S.). Ensure adherence to all regulatory obligations, including periodic reporting, proper record-keeping, and preparedness for audits and inspections in both Brazil and the United States.

• Training and Capacity Building: Create training materials and conduct workshops for internal teams, fostering ongoing awareness and education on AML/CTF, in line with best practices and regulatory requirements in the U.S. Keep the team informed about new regulations, financial crime trends, and industry best practices (e.g., AI utilization, risk-based monitoring, etc.).

• Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with Legal, Internal Audit, Operations, Technology, Product, and Commercial teams, ensuring that AML solutions are effective and seamlessly integrated into each department’s processes.

• Strategic Alignment: Maintain ongoing communication to preempt potential risks or regulatory changes, reinforcing the compliance culture throughout the organization.

• Effectiveness and Synergy: Ensure that policies, procedures, and monitoring solutions are customized to fit each department’s context, optimizing the detection of irregularities and enhancing operational efficiency.

• Growth Strategy and Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to refine AML processes, incorporating feedback and new technologies (including AI solutions) to boost efficiency and accuracy in identifying suspicious activities. Work with business teams to ensure that expansion and product launch strategies take into account compliance requirements, risk management, and specific regulations of the U.S. market.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven Data Analysis Skills: Robust experience in managing and analyzing large datasets from various sources. Proficiency in SQL and Python is highly desirable.

• AML Expertise: Strong background in AML/CTF operations, with particular experience in Monitoring, KYC/CDD, KYE, and KYP practices within the fintech sector or similar industries.

• Communication Skills: Proficient in English with outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.

• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

• Fundamental understanding of prompt engineering: Demonstrating proficiency in effectively interacting with and utilizing AI technologies.
