AI Technical Mentor – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver customized assistance by responding to learner inquiries regarding course materials and projects.

• Before the call, mentors should review the students' previous project submissions—provided by the Mentor Success Team when available—and/or any specific aspects of the Nanodegree content or project that the student has indicated confusion or difficulty with.

• For in-depth concept discussions, mentors will prepare a slide presentation that elaborates on a Nanodegree concept, showcasing various use cases to enhance student perspectives and understanding, followed by a Q&A session with the learners.

• During project walkthroughs, mentors will have a slide presentation ready that details each component of the rubric to assist learners in grasping expectations and identifying common challenges. This may include a mentor “grading” a sample submission to illustrate what is sought after when evaluating projects.

• Conduct regular sessions (via Slack or video) to resolve learner questions related to projects and coursework, with no prior preparation necessary.

• Demonstrated technical proficiency with over 5 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning.

• A strong enthusiasm for mentoring and aiding others in their educational journey.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills. You thrive on establishing relationships, communicating effectively, and creating a positive learning atmosphere.

• A comprehensive understanding of the tech industry and the latest trends in AI and related domains.

• The ability to work part-time as an external contractor while managing your existing commitments.

• Proficiency in Python and experience with API integration.

• A solid grasp of fundamental AI/ML concepts.

• Familiarity with LLMs and Generative AI tools.

• Experience in prompt engineering and model evaluation.

• Working knowledge of ML libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow).

• Exposure to AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex).

• Understanding of RAG, embeddings, and vector databases.

• Capability to build or assist with AI-driven applications/workflows.

• Awareness of AI use cases, limitations, and ethical considerations.

• Strong analytical and communication abilities.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Hands-on experience with end-to-end AI/ML or GenAI projects.
