This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Assess and choose the most suitable model architectures (LLMs, SLMs, or traditional ML) according to mission specifications, weighing the trade-offs between accuracy, latency, and cost.
• Advise customers on decisions regarding "Build vs. Buy vs. Fine-tune," emphasizing open-source models (Llama, Mistral, Falcon) that can securely operate within a sovereign data perimeter.
• Demonstrated experience in constructing Agentic Workflows (AI agents capable of executing API calls and multi-step tasks).
• Design and execute resilient data pipelines within CDP to convert disorganized legacy data into formats ready for AI use.
• Create and enhance Vector Databases and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures to base AI responses on verified agency data.
• Develop data pipelines utilizing Spark, Nifi, Kafka, or other ETL tools.
• Refine model inference for production settings through quantization, pruning, and hardware acceleration (NVIDIA GPU orchestration).
• Implement LLMOps to oversee model performance, identify hallucination rates, and manage model versioning and drift.
• Collaborate with the customer’s AI Center of Excellence (CoE) to set up automated safeguards for ethics, bias mitigation, and FedRAMP/IL5 compliance.
• Translate intricate technical AI concepts into mission-value presentations for GS-level stakeholders and agency leadership.
• Over 5 years of experience in Data Engineering, Machine Learning, or Software Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years focused on Generative AI or Deep Learning.
• Proficient in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face).
• Practical experience with Cloudera (CDP), Spark, or similar big data environments.
• Skilled in orchestration tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Haystack.
• Experience in developing visual data representations and dashboards (Django, React, or Angular).
• Familiarity with a compiled programming language, preferably one compatible with the JVM (Java, Scala, etc.).
• Demonstrated capability to build ETL/ELT pipelines and work with both SQL and NoSQL/Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, or PGVector).
• Knowledge of government security frameworks (NIST AI RMF, FedRAMP, SRGs, STIGs).
