AI Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• As an AI Product Engineer (m/f/d), you will integrate product vision, technical expertise, and AI-enhanced software development.

• You will comprehend customer challenges, actively design solutions, and leverage AI as a productive development partner, taking full ownership of quality, architecture, and customer value.

• You will bridge the gap between product-centric, entrepreneurial thinking and technical execution, transforming solutions from concept to technical realization.

• You will drive the AI-first evolution of the product, manage the development process, evaluate outcomes, and ensure appropriate coding practices for the relevant challenges.

• You will collaborate with product management and stakeholders to develop feasible solution concepts, focusing on problems and solutions rather than merely tracking tickets.

• You will guide AI-coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex through the entire development lifecycle, including precise prompts, meaningful task breakdowns, and iterative enhancements.

• You will critically assess AI-generated code for security, maintainability, performance, and architectural compatibility, and conduct code reviews.

• You will swiftly develop prototypes and MVPs, gather initial feedback, and validate assumptions before committing significant resources.

• You will maintain technical quality despite rapid delivery timelines by employing tests, acceptance criteria, and CI/CD practices.

• You will evaluate technical feasibility and cost-benefit analyses to furnish product management with a robust foundation for prioritization decisions.

• Additionally, you will continuously refine our AI-supported development processes and share your expertise within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience in software or product development, along with a degree in computer science or a related qualification.

• Proficient use of AI-coding tools and LLMs (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex), including prompting, context management, task decomposition, and critical evaluation of AI-generated outputs, while being aware of limitations, hallucinations, and security concerns.

• Experience in implementing AI solutions within software, such as integrating LLMs via APIs, AI-driven product features, RAG, or agent-based methodologies.

• Ability to understand, assess, and review code in our technology stack: TypeScript/Node.js, React/Next.js, REST APIs, SQL/PostgreSQL, without the need to write every line personally.

• Strong grasp of modern software architectures, APIs, data models, and cloud systems, with a focus on security (e.g., authentication, tenant isolation), performance, and maintainability.

• Comprehensive knowledge of testing methodologies (unit, integration, end-to-end tests) and confident use of Git, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).

• Strong product-oriented mindset: you challenge requirements, identify genuine customer needs, and adopt a solution-focused, entrepreneurial approach.

• Familiarity with agile methodologies, discovery processes, MVPs, and iterative development.

• A plus: experience with Docker/Kubernetes, Prisma, or domain expertise in the trades/construction sector and German business formats (ZUGFeRD/XRechnung, GAEB, DATEV).

• Ownership mentality: you take responsibility for customer outcomes, beyond just individual tasks.

• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and the ability to make informed decisions.

• Proficient in German and competent in English, both written and spoken.
