AI Engineering Team Lead

• In the role of Team Lead, Engineering at Deel, you will guide a cross-functional team of 6-10 professionals, balancing leadership with hands-on technical work focused on AI.

• You will promote technical excellence, mentor your team, and deliver scalable, innovative solutions in a dynamic, startup-like atmosphere.

• Act as a technical leader, merging hands-on development with strategic oversight.

• Design, code, and deliver high-quality, scalable applications utilizing modern technology stacks (Node.js, Python, or similar).

• Offer mentorship and technical direction, encouraging growth and skill enhancement within the team.

• Ensure adherence to best practices in development, testing, and deployment, fostering innovation and excellence.

• Conduct comprehensive code reviews to uphold high coding standards and technical quality.

• Collaborate closely with product and design teams to create exceptional user experiences.

• Oversee technical planning and execution, balancing immediate goals with long-term system viability.

• Advocate for Agile methodologies to boost team productivity and effectiveness.

• Facilitate knowledge sharing, inter-team collaboration, and ongoing improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with AI tools, LLMs, or AI-enhanced development workflows.

• Proven capability to integrate or utilize AI functionalities within applications.

• Experience with modern AI frameworks, RAG systems, prompt engineering, or agent orchestration.

• Demonstrated proficiency in developing AI-powered features or systems in production settings.

• Understanding of LLM behavior, non-determinism, cost optimization, and hallucination detection.

• Strong grasp of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.

• Experience in designing maintainable and scalable systems.

• Ability to produce clean, structured, and testable code.

• Capability to write complex queries from scratch.

• In-depth understanding of data structures and their performance impact on queries.

• Experience working with APIs and distributed systems.

• Proficient in debugging integrations and system interactions.

• Understanding of data flow across services.

• Experience analyzing data and transforming it into actionable insights.

• Conduct root cause analysis across code, data, and systems.

• Manage incidents, debug issues, and handle escalations effectively.
