AI Engineer – Conversational AI, Voice, LLM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Set up and fine-tune the AI voice agent on the Retell platform, including conversation flows for call greetings, intent recognition, caller routing, wire verification, closing date inquiries, and handling escalations.

• Develop and refine LLM prompts that dictate the agent's personality, decision-making capabilities, and compliance behavior.

• Create multi-step conversation workflows featuring branching logic (e.g., if a caller requests wire instructions, verify their identity, retrieve the relevant file, and either confirm or escalate the request).

• Configure the agent's knowledge base, encompassing staff directories, office details, frequently asked questions, and process explanations.

• Engage with the telephony integration layer to comprehend how calls are routed from the PBX to the agent and how the agent redirects calls to specific extensions.

• Manage the analytics and quality layer, which includes call scoring, sentiment analysis, intent categorization, and accuracy monitoring utilizing Retell's analytics and custom tools.

• Work collaboratively with the backend engineer responsible for building the APIs utilized by the agent, as well as the technical lead.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in LLM prompt engineering, encompassing the design, testing, and iteration of prompts that guide agent behavior in a production environment (experience in voice/phone context is strongly preferred over chatbot-only experience).

• Expertise in designing conversational AI workflows, including multi-step flows with branching logic, intent detection, and error management.

• Familiarity with at least one voice AI or conversational AI platform such as Retell, Vapi, Bland, Voiceflow, Amazon Connect, Twilio Voice, or a similar service.

• Experience working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar), addressing model selection, token cost management, and latency trade-offs.

• Strong attention to detail — even minor prompt modifications can result in the agent revealing sensitive information or sounding robotic. Precision is crucial.

• Proficient in professional English — ability to communicate clearly in writing on Slack and provide asynchronous updates.
