This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Design, develop, and manage systems in customer-facing production settings.
• Transform vague business and customer issues into prototypes and technical specifications.
• Monitor AI capabilities and implement them where they provide significant advantages.
• Take ownership of the entire application lifecycle: from product discovery and experimentation to evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Manage system design, including trade-offs, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Create codebases that are understandable to agents and fellow developers; push the organization forward in terms of tooling.
• Collaborate with product managers to refine their product vision, including the integration of AI-native solutions.
• A minimum of 2 years in software engineering or applied AI.
• Proven experience with AI development tools in full-stack applications.
• Experience in designing AI-driven solutions for real-world workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and advanced AI platforms.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (Preferred).
• Experience in operating AI systems in production, with a focus on evaluation, cost, and performance trade-offs (Preferred).
• Background in high-ambiguity environments with direct customer engagement (e.g., early-stage startups, forward-deployed engineering, internal product teams) (Preferred).
• Experience with large-scale Python, C#, and TypeScript codebases (Preferred).
• Experience in integrating AI solutions into established products (Preferred).
• Familiarity with healthcare, regulated, or sensitive data (Preferred).
