AI & Data Science Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• AI & Data Science Strategy: Developing and refining the company’s AI strategy across traditional machine learning, experimentation, evaluation, and generative AI applications.

• Technical Leadership: Serving as the senior technical anchor for the function, ensuring the team employs robust scientific thinking, effective experimentation practices, and sound engineering judgment.

• GenAI Adoption: Identifying opportunities where LLMs, agents, and related tools can significantly enhance products, workflows, and team efficiency, while steering clear of hype-driven choices.

• Ecosystem Building: Establishing the environment, tooling patterns, and operational methodologies that empower teams with varying levels of experience to create and manage AI solutions effectively.

• Team Leadership & Development: Mentoring and nurturing emerging leaders and high-performing individual contributors, while assisting in defining the appropriate long-term organizational framework.

• Cross-functional Translation: Facilitating communication between product, engineering, platform, and executive stakeholders to ensure AI initiatives are actionable, aligned, and prioritized effectively.

• Organizational Stabilization: Offering the necessary seniority and leadership depth during a phase of team transition and leadership changes.

• Selective Hiring: Assisting in calibrating and attracting senior profiles who possess deep machine learning knowledge, sound judgment, and practical exposure to contemporary GenAI systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong ML Foundation: Solid grounding in classical machine learning, experimentation, modeling, and scientific reasoning. This is not a GenAI-only profile.

• Practical GenAI Experience: Hands-on familiarity with LLMs, agentic patterns, evaluation methods, and the rapidly evolving GenAI tooling landscape.

• Senior Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience leading senior technical teams, shaping organizations, and functioning as a trusted partner to executive leadership.

• System-Building Mindset: Capability to create the ecosystem, processes, and technical direction that empower more junior team members to execute effectively.

• Product & Business Judgment: Strong aptitude for linking technical choices with business priorities, product limitations, and execution realities.

• People Skills: Ability to establish trust, engage in constructive challenges, and lead both upwards and downwards in a demanding environment.

• High Adaptability: Comfort in navigating fast-changing, ambiguous environments with high expectations and shifting priorities.

• Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal English skills, with the ability to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
