• Perform tailored analyses of POS and retail sales data for manufacturer clients, providing insights that inform strategic decisions on pricing, product assortment, and market share.
• Collaborate directly with clients to define analytical requests—pose insightful questions, establish the appropriate approach, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Convert client business challenges into research frameworks and deliver polished, executive-level outputs, including in-depth reports and PowerPoint presentations for merchant meetings, quarterly business reviews, and product line assessments.
• Write and optimize SQL queries and Python scripts against our ClickHouse data warehouse to extract, transform, and analyze extensive retail datasets.
• Assist in designing the frameworks, templates, and operational processes that the research team will utilize as we scale.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing to provide data-driven insights for content creation and thought leadership initiatives.
• Act as a primary power user of Bolt—testing its functionalities against actual client needs and advocating for the automation of an increasing portion of recurring analytical tasks.
• Offer structured, actionable feedback to the Bolt development team based on daily client interactions, helping to prioritize features and identify gaps in platform coverage.
• Leverage your analytical expertise to create reusable patterns, templates, and evaluation cases that enhance Bolt's accuracy and coverage.
• Assess Bolt's analytical outputs for accuracy and relevance, contributing to quality benchmarks based on real-world use cases.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a research, data analysis, or insights-focused role.
• Experience in analyzing POS, retail sales, or similar transactional data in a professional environment.
• Strong SQL capabilities—you can confidently write complex queries involving window functions, CTEs, joins across large tables, and aggregations.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, and automation purposes.
• Expert-level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; ability to transform raw data into a clear, compelling narrative for a non-technical audience.
• Strong client-facing communication skills—comfortable leading discussions, asking probing questions, and managing stakeholder expectations.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub-based development workflows.
• Self-driven mentality—you move quickly, remain motivated, and take initiative without requiring close supervision.
• Adaptability to startup environments—comfortable with ambiguity and taking on multiple roles in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience with AI coding tools, particularly Claude Code or similar LLM-assisted development workflows is preferred.
• Knowledge of LLM application development (including prompt engineering, tool-calling patterns, and evaluation frameworks) is preferred.
• Familiarity with ClickHouse or other columnar/analytical databases is preferred.
• Background in the home improvement, retail, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries is preferred.
• Experience in building or contributing to data products or internal analytics platforms is preferred.
