This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The AI Application Engineer is responsible for creating prototypes, services, workflows, and integrations that realize generative AI use cases on AWS.
• This position is hands-on: the engineer collaborates directly with the customer's developers during joint build sessions, transforming designs into functional software while sharing knowledge to enable the customer's team to become independent.
• Responsibilities encompass Bedrock applications and agents, enterprise integrations, MCP-based tooling, and specification-driven development.
• Create prototypes and pilot-ready services that implement AI use cases on Amazon Bedrock, including RAG and Bedrock Agents.
• Develop APIs, UI components, and workflow integrations that connect AI capabilities with enterprise applications and data sources.
• Establish document intake, classification, and extraction workflows utilizing services such as Amazon Textract and Step Functions when applicable.
• Configure and integrate MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, and operate within Kiro specification-driven development workflows, hooks, and steering rules.
• Implement integrations with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (SharePoint, Outlook/Exchange, Teams, OneDrive) and delivery/observability tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, GitHub, Dynatrace, or Wiz as approved.
• Collaborate with customer developers in joint build sessions, showcasing implementation techniques and aiding them in achieving self-sufficiency.
• Implement guardrails, evaluation tests, and grounding/citation behaviors as per the architect’s designs.
• Write clean, tested, and documented code adhering to reusable development standards, and contribute reusable templates and playbook materials.
• Strong software engineering capabilities in a common programming language such as Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Java.
• Practical experience integrating with LLM or generative AI APIs (preferably Amazon Bedrock) and developing RAG or agent-style features.
• Solid understanding of core AWS services for computing, storage, APIs, and identity, including security principles beyond the AI stack.
• Proficiency in building REST/serverless services, integrations, and automation.
• Experience with enterprise system integrations via APIs (e.g., Microsoft 365 / Graph, ServiceNow, Jira, GitHub) and managing authentication and access controls.
• Capability to work collaboratively with a customer's developers in a pairing-oriented manner and facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with MCP server configuration and Kiro or other specification-driven development tools (preferred).
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and search/retrieval tools (preferred).
• Knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and testing best practices on AWS (preferred).
• Exposure to regulated or public sector environments and responsible AI / PHI-PII handling (preferred).
• AWS associate-level certification (preferred).
