This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Design and develop production AI agent systems for clients across various industries, from initial scoping to deployment and iterative improvements.
• Facilitate technical discovery workshops to pinpoint high-value automation opportunities within client workflows.
• Choose and integrate appropriate agent frameworks, platforms, and models for each project (including LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, Claude Managed Agents, custom orchestration, and others as the landscape progresses).
• Create human-in-the-loop workflows, approval processes, and escalation pathways to ensure agent systems function safely within client environments, particularly in regulated or risk-sensitive sectors.
• Convert complex AI capabilities into straightforward, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively with LaunchPad Lab’s engineering and design teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
• Oversee LaunchPad Lab’s internal agent automation roadmap. Identify processes suitable for agent-driven enhancements and develop the corresponding solutions.
• Assess new agent frameworks, platforms, and tools.
• Create reusable agent architectures, prompt libraries, and patterns that expedite delivery across the consultancy.
• Contribute to the AI practice’s positioning, thought leadership, and go-to-market strategies with technical credibility.
• Guide and mentor other engineers on AI patterns, tools, and best practices as the practice expands.
• A minimum of 2 years of professional software engineering experience with a solid foundation in the field.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in constructing AI agent systems, including both autonomous and semi-autonomous agents deployed in production settings.
• Extensive knowledge of agent orchestration frameworks (such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, Claude Managed Agents, or similar). You should have well-founded opinions on their trade-offs.
• Familiarity with agent design patterns including prompt engineering, RAG architectures, tool/function calling, agent memory management, and evaluation frameworks.
• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol), A2A (Agent-to-Agent Protocol), or other emerging standards for agent interoperability.
• Proven capability to lead client-facing technical discussions, translate business challenges into technical solutions, and present effectively to senior stakeholders.
