Advisor, Data Science and Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• This role is pivotal in aiding the development of analytical solutions through consulting engagements for TransUnion’s clients, spanning a wide range of credit, fraud, and marketing business applications.

• You will act as the subject matter expert within both internal and external cross-functional teams to propel new business initiatives and provide long-term, value-added solutions for TransUnion customers.

• Your responsibilities will include, among other tasks, independently spearheading the creation of technical solutions to complex challenges with minimal direct oversight.

• You will manage intricate custom analytic projects from inception to completion, contributing to opportunity management (e.g., crafting RFP responses), designing solutions, leading analytic developments, and ensuring solutions are deployed and monitored continuously.

• You will present analytic insights and recommendations in clear and engaging presentations for both internal and external customers from diverse backgrounds and levels.

• You will oversee and actively support the creation of analytic solutions utilizing languages such as R, Python, SQL, Spark, and GCP, formalizing some of these initiatives into repeatable process enhancements.

• You will engage in mentoring and training junior colleagues, promoting a high-performance culture and fostering an environment that encourages excellence and reflects the TransUnion brand.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s or PhD degree in statistics, economics, applied mathematics, financial mathematics, computer science, engineering, operations research, or other quantitative fields with a minimum of 5 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative area with at least eight (8) years of relevant professional experience.

• Proven experience and success in directly supporting internal or external clients for at least five (5) years, along with a minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in analytic work, preferably in industries served by TransUnion.

• Demonstrated strong analytical, critical, and creative thinking abilities, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• A clear interest and established career trajectory in industries served by TransUnion, such as financial services, insurance, fraud, and digital marketing.

• Advanced programming capabilities and expertise; proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python; familiarity with additional programming and data manipulation languages and big data platforms (SQL, Hive, Spark, C/C++, Java); and a high level of competency with Microsoft Office tools.

• Extensive experience in processing and analyzing large datasets.

• Capability to lead complex analytic projects with limited oversight.

• Exceptional business acumen and adaptable interpersonal skills to communicate effectively at various organizational levels, including executive tiers, within a complex and dynamic matrix organization.

• Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time.
