This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.
• Assist in executing CIMMYT research initiatives under the guidance of the host CIMMYT scientist.
• Foster collaboration by involving the host CIMMYT scientist in pertinent activities within their institutional research agenda.
• Contribute to a team-oriented atmosphere in a diverse work setting.
• Create joint research proposals.
• Engage in scientific publications and share research outcomes.
• Participate in relevant CIMMYT strategic and technical meetings.
• Take part in exchange visits, field activities, workshops, and scientific conferences, contingent on funding availability.
• Adhere to CIMMYT's applicable policies and procedures.
• Assist in producing technical reports from collaboratively executed activities, capturing achievements and lessons learned.
• Provide an exit report following the specified reporting format.
• Must be an active full-time employee of a National Agricultural Research Institution in one of the target countries.
• Requires institutional support and endorsement from the current employer.
• Holds a PhD in a relevant field obtained within the last decade, demonstrating an active research program and scientific contributions; alternatively, an MSc with 5–10 years of proven leadership experience in agricultural research, including managing research projects, programs, or technical initiatives.
• Must exhibit strong scientific potential and a commitment to collaborative research.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Possesses expertise in a relevant domain such as crop breeding, seed systems, socioeconomics, data science, agronomy, or related fields.
• A part-time affiliation with CIMMYT for one year, with the option to renew for a second year based on performance, continued mutual benefit, and available funding.
• A monthly gross allowance of USD 1,000 to supplement the scientist's institutional salary.
• Opportunities for collaboration on research, publications, proposal development, and regional initiatives.
• Involvement in scientific meetings, exchange visits, and professional networking events.
• Coverage for travel and related expenses for CIMMYT-approved activities.
• Suitable health and life insurance coverage, where applicable.
