This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within interdisciplinary clinical teams to support individuals living with concurrent disorders.

• Deliver both direct and indirect clinical care for adults experiencing concurrent disorders.

• Offer clinical decision support to physicians and clinicians regarding care and treatment for concurrent disorders.

• Perform comprehensive, patient-centered assessments.

• Provide consultant physician support in Mental Health and Addictions Program (MHAP) clinics, including Community Mental Health and Addictions and Recovery Support Centres.

• Contribute to psychiatric assessments, psychosocial and laboratory investigations, as well as pharmacological and psychosocial interventions.

• Develop case formulations and working diagnoses while establishing care goals in collaboration with patients, clinical teams, and families, with their consent.

• Recommend pharmacotherapeutic options as part of the comprehensive care plans.

• Facilitate access to additional services and supports.

• Encourage patient involvement and decision-making through a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach.

• Engage in occasional community outreach to promote integrated and transcultural care.

• Create recommendations for evidence-based concurrent disorders care.

• Design and deliver educational programs and training sessions.

• Provide clinical teaching and mentorship to team members.

• Adhere to the bylaws, rules, and regulations of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

• Take part in quality improvement and evaluation initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).

• Specialists should be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

• Coverage must be provided through the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) or proof of alternative coverage.

• Must possess, or be willing to obtain, active credentials and privileges with the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA).

• Experience in various Addiction Medicine settings is required.

• Experience working within an interdisciplinary team to provide care and treatment for individuals with moderate to severe psychiatric disorders is an asset.

• Previous academic experience is considered an asset.

• Fellowship in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or an equivalent, such as MRCPsych with a Certificate of Completion of Training in General Adult Psychiatry, or American Board of Psychiatry certification by examination as determined by the Department of Psychiatry.
