This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Perform actuarial analysis and modeling employing statistical methods, predictive techniques, machine learning, generalized linear models, and gradient boosting approaches.
• Generate reports, presentations, and submissions; articulate findings and provide recommendations for corporate decision-making.
• Create spreadsheets, database structures, extracts, and statistical software code for profitability assessments, reserving, and forecasting.
• Analyze, extract, manipulate, and visualize extensive datasets to uncover trends and patterns.
• Produce and execute reports while communicating actuarial concepts and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Utilize analytics and technology to enhance processes, product designs, underwriting guidelines, actuarial techniques, analyses, and applications.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Finance, Risk Management, Claims, and Underwriting teams on insurance operations and modeling.
• Address routine requests from internal and external stakeholders regarding standard reports and processes.
• Comply with actuarial and regulatory standards and assist with special projects.
• Present rate indications, conduct profitability evaluations and dislocation analyses, support rate filings, and assess implications for profitability and growth.
• Assist in the development and implementation of actuarial pricing models and create automation tools for pricing assessments.
• Contribute to leadership development, succession planning, mentorship, training, risk management, and corporate strategies.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Actuarial Science or a related field such as Business or Mathematics & Applied Science.
• Successful completion of at least two exams from the Casualty Actuarial Society or equivalent progress on the Canadian Institute of Actuaries qualification pathway.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
• Understanding of actuarial methods, modeling techniques, statistics, and the assumptions employed in ratemaking and reserving.
• Familiarity with database structures, logic, and data science/statistical tools such as SAS, R, or Python.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance pertaining to actuarial work.
• Insight into the insurance industry and features of insurance products.
• Proficiency in mathematics, data management, and programming.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Capability to present analysis to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to research, analyze, and make informed decisions.
• Effective communication skills with non-actuarial departments.
