Accounts Receivable Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and oversee an assigned accounts receivable ledger, prioritizing collection efforts based on value, age, risk, and customer history.

• Reach out to customers via phone, email, customer portals, and formal correspondence to follow up on overdue balances and secure confirmed payment dates.

• Regularly review aged debts and take documented action to prevent balances from escalating into higher-risk aging categories.

• Cultivate professional relationships with customer accounts payable teams, purchasing contacts, and internal account owners to eliminate payment obstacles.

• Investigate and resolve payment issues, including missing purchase orders, billing disputes, invoice delivery problems, credit notes, short payments, deductions, and unapplied cash.

• Assist in month-end closing activities by providing insights on aged debt, high-risk balances, bad debt exposure, and anticipated cash receipts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in accounts receivable collections, credit control, or customer cash collections, preferably in a B2B setting.

• Demonstrated success in collecting overdue balances, decreasing aged debt, and managing a complex or high-value ledger.

• In-depth understanding of the complete order-to-cash cycle, including invoicing, cash application, disputes, credit notes, and customer account reconciliation.

• Proficient in using ERP, finance, or collections systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday, Salesforce, or similar platforms.

• Strong Excel skills, encompassing filtering, pivot tables, lookups, aging analysis, and ledger reconciliation.

• Relevant qualifications in finance, credit, or collections, or equivalent experience.
