Accounts Payable Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Manage a high volume of vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals, correct coding, and compliance with established policies and procedures.

• Assist in administering the company credit card and expense reporting systems, which includes auditing transactions, reconciling statements, and providing support to employees with inquiries or issues.

• Help facilitate weekly and monthly payment processes (ACH, wire, check, and international payments), maintain vendor records, and address vendor inquiries promptly and professionally.

• Aid in month-end closing activities by preparing accruals, reconciling the accounts payable subledger with the general ledger, and ensuring expenses are posted in the appropriate accounting period.

• Support compliance with tax and reporting obligations (e.g., sales/use tax, VAT/GST/HST, 1099/T4A) and assist during audits by supplying required documentation.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance and streamline accounts payable and expense processes, identifying areas for increased efficiency and accuracy.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of accounts payable experience, ideally supporting multiple entities.

• Strong knowledge of accounts payable practices, including tax compliance and vendor documentation requirements.

• Willingness to work extended hours during month-end and year-end closing periods as necessary.

• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Business Central, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar).

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis).

• Experience with invoice automation tools and accounts payable platforms (e.g., Tipalti, Coupa, AvidXchange, Stampli) is advantageous.
