Accountant – Finance Control & Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Assist in the precise and prompt execution of monthly financial reporting activities, which encompass journal preparation and posting, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, intercompany reconciliations, variance analysis, and support for fixed asset accounting.

• Aid in maintaining the completeness and accuracy of financial records while facilitating timely month-end closing processes.

• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations across bank accounts, payment providers, operational systems, and ledger balances.

• Examine discrepancies, rectify reconciliation issues, uphold audit trails, and bolster financial controls, documentation standards, and process governance.

• Assist in operational finance tasks including supplier invoice processing, payment preparation, expense assessments, employee reimbursements, and vendor reconciliations.

• Ensure accuracy in coding, compliance with approvals, timely execution of payments, and meticulous record-keeping within finance operations.

• Facilitate internal and external audit processes by preparing necessary documentation, maintaining evidence of reconciliations, and addressing audit inquiries.

• Contribute to sustaining a robust control environment that aligns with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and the advancement of control framework maturity.

• Participate in finance process enhancement and automation initiatives by pinpointing manual inefficiencies, refining reconciliation workflows, elevating reporting quality, and aiding in the optimization of finance systems and tools.

• Support the broader finance team's goal to become more automation-driven, data-oriented, and operationally scalable.

• Collaborate effectively with Finance, Operations, Commercial, Compliance, and external stakeholders, offering timely support and fostering a positive team culture, operational excellence, and cross-functional delivery.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong proficiency in accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial controls, combined with solid Excel/spreadsheet skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.

• Exceptional attention to detail with a methodical and organized approach to investigating discrepancies, resolving issues, and maintaining precise financial records.

• A keen interest in finance systems, automation, and process improvement, possessing a proactive mindset and curiosity about enhancing operational efficiency in dynamic scale-up environments.

• Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across multiple teams and effectively manage priorities.

• Dependable, accountable, and flexible, with a positive demeanor and comfort in a fast-paced fintech setting.

• Previous exposure to fintech or payment environments would be a plus.
