This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main point of contact for learners from the time they enroll until they complete their program.

• Oversee a group of learners by providing coaching, motivation, mentorship, barrier removal, issue resolution, completion strategies, and monitoring progress.

• Assist learners in clarifying their decision points and identifying solutions that align with their personal motivations and goals.

• Deliver personalized interactions, milestone outreach, and behavior-based outreach to support educational objectives and help overcome challenges.

• Create academic plans that outline program requirements and the most efficient pathway to completion.

• Utilize advising tools, systems, software applications, program analytics, and outreach protocols effectively.

• Foster relationships with learners to promote their success and engagement.

• Guide learners through program and plan modifications, including those initiated by Capella.

• Assess the alignment between educational and financial plans and the completion of degrees.

• Provide resources and refer learners to university support services as needed.

• Evaluate learner needs and assist them in making informed decisions about their pathways and progress toward their goals.

• Proactively reach out to at-risk learners to address barriers impacting their persistence, success, and completion.

• Support learners through life disruptions and challenges, offering situation-specific options.

• Respond via phone, voicemail, chat, email, casework, and social media communications.

• Collaborate with faculty, academic leadership, department chairs, and learner-facing teams to resolve conflicts and issues.

• Keep accurate records of learner interactions.

• Serve as a subject matter expert on programs, processes, and policies.

• Monitor and report on trends that influence learner persistence, success, and completion.

• Provide training on programs, processes, and policies for faculty and staff.

• Identify opportunities for improvement and gaps, collaborating with stakeholders to develop solutions.

• Build professional relationships throughout the organization.

• Engage in projects, departmental initiatives, cross-functional training, and research on trends in higher education.


⛳️ Requirements

• Ideally, two to four years of professional experience utilizing advanced coaching, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Preferred experience working with adult learners and/or faculty.

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.

• A Master's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.

• A Doctoral degree is preferred for candidates applying for Doctoral Advisor positions.

• Specific fields such as student development, college student personnel management, educational psychology, counseling psychology, social work, student affairs, or higher education are preferred based on the assignment.

• Strong skills in coaching, critical thinking, problem-solving, relationship-building, influencing, conflict management, and judgment.

• Ability to understand key metrics and use self-service reporting and tools for data monitoring and sharing.

• Capability to adapt swiftly, innovate, manage sensitive and confidential information, and operate in a fast-changing environment.

• Skills to prioritize learner needs and work effectively with diverse populations.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proficient in communicating through various channels and systems.

• Foundational knowledge of educational and career advising.

• Quick learner of new computer software applications.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Must spend significant time working on a computer and on the phone using a headset.

• Flexibility in work hours/schedule is necessary to meet learner needs.

• Position may require working over 40 hours per week during peak periods.

• Ability to travel 0–10% of the time.

• Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs.

• Must communicate effectively across all levels of management, handle stressful situations, and maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
