This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide assessments of natural resources and support for environmental compliance concerning biological and aquatic resources.
• Carry out surveys targeting special-status wildlife and appropriate habitat areas.
• Execute field surveys to identify aquatic resources, including vernal pool complexes.
• Draft concise memoranda to document the findings from surveys.
• Conduct pre-construction surveys for listed plant and wildlife species, as well as nesting birds.
• Facilitate on-site training for construction contractors in the Natural Resources Worker Environmental Awareness Program across various projects.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and permits, coordinating effectively with the AECOM leadership team, clients, construction contractors, and agency personnel.
• Generate daily monitoring logs to summarize activities and compliance status.
• Actively contribute as a positive member of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting practice in California.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience and/or education in construction monitoring, environmental inspection, habitat assessments, and biological surveys.
• A valid U.S. Driver’s License is mandatory for this role.
• Independent travel will be necessary.
• Due to the nature of the job, U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Preferred candidates will have 4 years of experience.
• Experience in surveying special-status species, particularly the blunt-nosed leopard lizard (Level 2 preferred), giant garter snake, California tiger salamander, and western spadefoot is desired.
• A 10(a)1(A) permit for listed wildlife, including California tiger salamander and giant garter snake, is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species native to the Central Valley and Central Coast regions of California, along with experience in conducting surveys and monitoring for these species, is essential.
