Web Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Reports to: Engineering Manager

• Line Management Responsibility: No

• Plan and execute features based on specifications while prioritising tasks and taking initiative to ensure timely delivery.

• Operate within standardised technical processes that foster collaboration and consistency within the team.

• Clearly and consistently communicate with your team and clients, seek guidance proactively, and raise questions or concerns as they arise.

• Create and maintain reusable plugins, shared libraries, and internal tools.

• Refactor code and perform bug fixes.

• Collaborate closely with others as part of a small team.

• Senior engineers will assume greater project leadership, taking ownership of direction, advocating for best practices, and managing client relationships.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience with modern WordPress, including block themes and the Site Editor.

• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering with PHP and/or JavaScript.

• Strong grasp of HTML, CSS, and front-end best practices, including performance optimisation and accessibility standards.

• Ability to debug both your own code and that of others, with experience in using debugging tools.

• Solid understanding of MySQL and the considerations involved in database-driven applications.

• Familiarity with interacting with RESTful APIs and integrating data from external services.

• Experience with Git and GitHub, including branching strategies and pull request workflows.

• Experience managing dependencies using tools such as npm and Composer.

• Ability to set up local development environments.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in the English language is essential.

• Capability to manage your workload and balance multiple tasks effectively.

• Interest in AI-assisted development tools, along with an understanding of their appropriate use and limitations.
