This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive public relations strategy that aligns with the company’s mission, business goals, and growth priorities in the digital health sector.
• Act as a senior advisor to executive leadership regarding reputation management, media strategy, and external narratives, particularly concerning issues that may impact brand or policy.
• Convert business strategy, product innovations, and data insights into engaging stories that resonate with clinicians, health systems, partners, investors, and media outlets.
• Establish clear public relations metrics, KPIs, and reporting systems to showcase impact and guide ongoing optimizations.
• Enhance the company’s media presence across business, technology, healthcare, and policy channels by building strong relationships with leading and trade journalists.
• Proactively identify and shape high-impact media opportunities, trend narratives, and storylines that position the company as a frontrunner in health technology.
• Design and oversee executive thought leadership initiatives, including speaking engagements, op-eds, bylines, panels, and participation in major industry conferences.
• Supervise the creation of public relations materials (press releases, media briefs, Q&A, fact sheets, talking points, backgrounders) to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with regulatory and compliance standards.
• Lead initiatives for reputation management, focusing on corporate positioning, social impact narratives, and long-term storytelling surrounding innovation, trust, and clinical value.
• Collaborate closely with Brand, Marketing, Product, and Legal teams to ensure message consistency and integrated external communications.
• Anticipate emerging issues in healthcare and technology, preparing proactive messaging and response strategies.
• Oversee corporate announcements (e.g., product launches, partnerships, clinical studies, regulatory milestones, executive appointments, funding events) to maximize their strategic impact.
• Develop and sustain comprehensive issues and crisis communications plans, including scenario planning, escalation processes, and tailored holding statements for the healthcare and technology sectors.
• Act as the lead advisor and spokesperson (when appropriate) during sensitive situations, coordinating input across functions and ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent communication.
• Train and coach executives and designated spokespeople on media interactions, high-stakes interviews, and public appearances.
• Serve as a vital strategic partner to the executive leadership team, offering guidance on reputation, media strategy, and external positioning.
• Lead cross-functional public relations planning processes, collaborating with Marketing, Brand, Product, Legal, and HR to ensure alignment.
• Manage the public relations budget, agency relationships, and vendor contracts to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
• Over 15 years of progressive experience in public relations or strategic communications, with significant leadership responsibilities.
• Extensive experience in healthcare, health technology, life sciences, or closely related regulated sectors; familiarity with clinical, regulatory, and policy dynamics is essential.
• Proven ability to enhance a company’s reputation, drive impactful media coverage, and shape public narratives in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrated success in influencing senior stakeholders, managing agencies, and executing complex, cross-functional public relations initiatives without direct team management responsibilities.
• Deep expertise in media relations, corporate communications, executive visibility, and issues/crisis management.
• Strong strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to connect emerging market trends, health policy developments, and technological innovations to unique storytelling opportunities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to craft clear, persuasive narratives for a variety of audiences, including clinicians, health systems, payers, policymakers, investors, and the general public.
• Comfortable working at both strategic and operational levels, from long-term planning to swift execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Policy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred but not mandatory.
