Virtual Medical Receptionist – Part Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Professionally respond to and manage incoming patient calls with warmth and empathy.

• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments efficiently.

• Provide assistance to patients with inquiries related to appointments and clinic procedures.

• Engage with distressed, anxious, frustrated, or emotionally vulnerable patients with patience and sensitivity.

• Communicate clearly and effectively with elderly patients and those needing additional support or explanations.

• Accurately capture and update patient information in the EMR/medical system.

• Ensure the maintenance of accurate and confidential patient records.

• Adhere to clinic protocols and ensure the correct capture of scheduling information.

• Escalate sensitive or urgent issues to the appropriate clinical or administrative staff member.

• Perform general administrative tasks as necessary.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel and other office systems as needed.

• Maintain a consistently professional and compassionate demeanor while on the phone.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous experience in medical reception, healthcare administration, patient scheduling, customer service, call center, or a similar capacity.

• Outstanding telephone and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to convey empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence in interactions.

• Comfort in dealing with sensitive, emotional, or vulnerable individuals.

• Strong computer literacy and the capability to learn and navigate an EMR/medical system.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

• Professional demeanor, remaining calm and composed under pressure.

• Excellent spoken English and a clear, professional telephone presence.

• Availability to work US hours, 9am–5pm EST.
