This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Plan and execute user research through various methods such as interviews, contextual inquiries, observations, workshops, surveys, document reviews, and operational data analysis.
• Identify key stakeholder groups and create research-driven personas.
• Map comprehensive personnel and recruiting journeys, highlighting touchpoints, handoffs, systems, decision points, delays, rework loops, and pain points.
• Develop service blueprints and workflow diagrams that connect user experiences with processes, policies, roles, data, and technologies.
• Transform qualitative and quantitative findings into themes, opportunity areas, root-cause analyses, and validated problem statements.
• Lead co-design sessions involving HR stakeholders and mission organizations.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and design artifacts to evaluate concepts and aid stakeholder decision-making.
• Plan and conduct concept validation and usability testing; document insights and refine designs accordingly.
• Evaluate candidate and hiring manager experiences, enhancing technical talent acquisition services alongside Technical Talent Acquisition and Workforce Management.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Visual Designers to convert research into backlog items, roadmaps, decision products, and implementation suggestions.
• Maintain research plans, documentation, repositories, findings, and design rationale while ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive personnel information.
• Present findings and recommendations to operational teams, technical stakeholders, and senior leadership.
• A Bachelor's degree in human-centered design, human-computer interaction, service design, design research, psychology, anthropology, information science, or a related field, along with at least five years of pertinent professional experience; additional directly relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Proven experience in conducting user research and applying human-centered design or service design methodologies in complex organizational settings.
• Familiarity with developing personas, journey maps, workflow maps, service blueprints, wireframes, prototypes, and research synthesis deliverables.
• Ability to plan and facilitate interviews, workshops, co-design sessions, usability tests, and stakeholder reviews.
• Proficient in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, identifying root causes, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product owners, visual designers, functional subject matter experts, data or technology professionals, and senior stakeholders.
• Proficient in Figma, FigJam, Miro, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
• Excellent written, verbal, visual, facilitation, and client engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Capable of working independently, managing multiple research and design tasks, and adapting to shifting priorities.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to meet government security, suitability, and system access requirements.
• Possession of an active SECRET Clearance.
