
Traveling Construction Materials Technician III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Conduct field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
• Liaise with the project manager, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives, and others as necessary regarding the construction site, project specifications, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and outcomes.
• Transport material samples along with related identifying documentation to the laboratory for additional testing and analysis.
• Compile, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports as tasks are completed for daily transmission to the Terracon Project Manager.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and workspaces.
• May assist in scheduling and dispatching Technicians to project sites.
• Comply with strict safety protocols.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• At least 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent training and related experience.
• Proficient in laptop computer usage and familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history may be necessary.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Certifications in two or more of the following areas:
• NICET Level II certification in Construction Materials Testing in one or more of the following categories: Asphalt, Concrete, Soils.
• NICET Level II certification in Geotechnical in one or more of the following categories: Construction, Laboratory, Exploration, Generalist.
• ICC certification in two or more of the following categories: Reinforced Concrete, Spray-applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post-Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel – Bolting, Structural Steel – Welding.
• American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification in more than one of the following areas: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
• Other national, regional, state, and local Materials-related certifications that require experience and written examinations will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department Manager.

• Materials:
• ACI certification in one or more of the following areas:
• Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I.
• Concrete Strength Testing Technician.
• Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
• Steel:
• American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or
• Structural Steel and/or nondestructive testing services: ASNT Level II.
• Facilities:
• Relevant certification for the services or project requirements (e.g., Registered Roofing Observer (RRO)).
