This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assist in initiatives aimed at enhancing the education of students with disabilities, focusing on state education agencies and special education system-level efforts.
• Aid in the evaluation, synthesis, and organization of research, policies, guidance, and other resources pertinent to special education leadership and enhancement strategies.
• Play a role in creating tools, materials, presentations, briefs, and various products for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and mentorship activities alongside leaders in special education and related areas.
• Support the analysis of practice challenges and pinpoint evidence-based strategies that foster improved services, systems, and outcomes for children and youth with disabilities.
• Work together with project staff to fulfill assigned responsibilities, track timelines, and update on progress related to internship activities.
• Complete a final project that aligns with the priorities of NCSI.
• Undertake additional responsibilities that support learning objectives and the needs of the organization.
• Must be currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in special education, educational leadership, public policy, disability studies, education policy, or a closely related field that focuses on the education and development of students with disabilities.
• Proven interest in leadership, policy, system enhancements, or state-level initiatives related to special education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly synthesize information for diverse audiences.
• Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid or remote work setting.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and adhere to deadlines.
• Preferred experience with literature reviews, policy analysis, data-driven decision-making, or program support.
