This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Ensure Engineering Profitability: Oversee resource allocation through precise estimation, achieve utilization targets, and uphold rigorous time logging protocols.
• Ensure High Engineering Performance: Ensure project success by proactively resolving obstacles, facilitating swift communication, and adhering to all security and quality benchmarks.
• Maintain Professional Standards: Guarantee continuous compliance with certification standards relevant to the role and practice effective delegation.
• Recruit & Retain Great Talent: Achieve over 90% acquisition of A-players and ensure high retention rates of engineering talent.
• Estimation & Allocation: Develop precise estimates for each ticket to support effective resource allocation.
• Utilization & Logging: Ensure that the team (including yourself) meets utilization objectives and follows time logging standards.
• Unblocking & Escalation: Minimize ticket overages by assisting engineering team members and escalating technical issues to the Head of Engineering.
• Reporting: Promptly report ticket estimate overages to the Project Manager and Head of Engineering to facilitate project success.
• Onboarding & Certification: Keep milestones and dates updated in the Certification Planning spreadsheet for all team members.
• Quality Control: Comply with quality and security standards to guarantee zero defects in project requirements.
• Timeline Management: Support work-in-progress cycle times of less than 2 days, conduct code reviews within 4 business hours, and ensure QA within 2 days.
• Team Leadership: Delegate responsibilities using the 5 Levels of Leadership (p. 215) and implement Manager Tools best practices to enhance retention.
• Hiring: Engage in the hiring process utilizing the WHO method to attract A-player talent.
• 8+ years of experience in a Tech Leader role
• Proven capability to lead a team of software engineers
• Demonstrated expertise in technical estimation and resource allocation
• Proficiency in upholding engineering quality and security standards
• Proven track record of developing quality software - Zero major defects and/or bugs released
• Familiarity with the WHO method for hiring and talent acquisition
• Knowledge of Manager Tools best practices for team retention
• Ability to implement delegation in accordance with the 5 Levels of Leadership
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and role certification
• Capacity to maintain rapid communication and meet strict cycle-time targets
• Advanced to fluent English communication skills are essential for this position.
