
Technical Support Engineer – Commercial Chiller Equipment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Deliver technical support services to Trane Field Service Agencies, including necessary travel to job sites.
• Remotely troubleshoot commercial chillers.
• Conduct chiller service reports and analyze chiller data; organize documentation to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate with various Trane departments to enhance customer support and meet business unit goals.
• Create and technically evaluate Help Center solutions.
• Travel up to 15% for troubleshooting, training, field support, and assistance with new product development.
• Oversee customer interactions regarding Trane chillers.
• Aid in root cause analysis and defect resolution.
• Write and review product literature and assist in training sessions.
• Act as a subject matter expert on chiller components or applications, serving as a resource for internal team members.
• Lead or participate in field quality problem-solving initiatives and field service communication teams.
• Ensure technical service operations meet quality standards and customer satisfaction expectations.
• Participate in quality audits, design review teams, and technology transfer activities.
• Identify trends in field problems and relay information to Quality for product enhancement.
• Propel quality improvement projects and engage in new product development as the representative voice of the field.
• Support Mission Critical customers with chiller startups, commissioning, and servicing, including after-hours support when scheduled.
• Make data-driven decisions aligned with department objectives and requirements.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in servicing HVAC equipment and systems is preferred but not mandatory.
• An associate or bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Professional training on a range of Trane equipment.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Understanding of and ability to apply temperature, pressure, and basic electrical principles.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software.
• Working knowledge of handheld devices such as smartphones and iPads.
• Capability to manage support cases using Remedy software.
• Ability to meet the physical demands associated with typical HVAC equipment service tasks.
• Proficient in troubleshooting complex refrigeration and electrical systems.
• Current knowledge of Trane Unitary Commercial products, including their installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
• Familiarity with Large Unitary Products and BAS systems is advantageous but not required.
• Ability to prioritize multiple high-priority customer cases effectively.
• Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours.
• Capability to meet both short- and long-term deadlines.
• Ability to address the needs of both internal and external customers.
