This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Create protective relay configurations for microprocessor relays, including SEL, GE, ABB, and others.
• Establish settings for transmission line relays, such as line differential, step distance, and pilot schemes.
• Formulate settings for substation relays, encompassing capacitor banks, transformers, and buses.
• Execute short circuit analysis and conduct relay coordination studies.
• Implement control and protection strategies by interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams, as well as preparing relay logic.
• Collaborate on substation and/or protection and control engineering projects, including detailed design for high-voltage substation projects up to 500kV.
• Provide mentorship and manage staff across various levels.
• Oversee tasks across multiple projects in alignment with project management standards.
• Handle competing priorities and adapt to shifting deadlines or scope modifications.
• Identify project obstacles and resolve them without affecting the schedule.
• Conduct basic design tasks and assist with field activities, material testing, CADD work, permit applications, and report writing.
• Manage personal assignments while adhering to deadlines and scope.
• Travel to job sites or client meetings as required, approximately 10% of the time.
• Interact with project stakeholders while upholding professionalism and fostering respectful inclusion.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or another technical field.
• Experience with protective relays for transmission and distribution systems.
• Background in developing settings for microprocessor relays, including SEL, GE, and ABB.
• Understanding of transmission line relay schemes, including line differential, step distance, and pilot schemes.
• Familiarity with substation relay applications for capacitor banks, transformers, and buses.
• Experience in short circuit analysis and relay coordination studies.
• Proficiency in Aspen OneLiner and/or PSS CAPE.
• Proficiency with SEL AcSELerator Quickset and GE EnerVista.
• Capability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams, as well as prepare relay logic.
• Skills in resource management and the ability to identify and mitigate project obstacles.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and changes in project scope.
• Basic oral and written communication skills.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10% to job sites or client meetings.
