This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia, +1 more country.
• Develops and maintains tools, scripts, and pipelines that enable the art team to create high-quality visual content efficiently.
• Collaborates closely with artists, designers, engineers, and other technical specialists to identify technical challenges, enhance workflows, and address production needs.
• Assists the art team in conveying technical requirements and limitations to the development team.
• Innovatively resolves technical problems to optimize visual quality while adhering to real-time performance and hardware constraints.
• Aids in the creation, optimization, and implementation of intricate visual content, including materials, shaders, procedural assets, and VFX.
• Prototypes, develops, profiles, and implements procedural VFX, such as particles, post-processing effects, shaders, and related visual systems.
• Contributes to the development, optimization, and best practices of the content creation pipeline, integration, and performance.
• Leads the development of complex procedural and physically based content, ensuring assets are efficient, scalable, and ready for production.
• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Artist or in a comparable role on a commercial game development project.
• In-depth knowledge of real-time art production, optimization, pipeline development, and technical problem-solving.
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as MAXScript, MEL, C#, Python, HLSL, and GLSL.
• Possesses a keen artistic eye, capable of balancing visual quality with technical limitations and performance criteria.
• Experience with VFX, materials, shaders, lighting models, tool development, optimization, and pipeline development.
• Familiarity with modern game engines like Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary engines.
• Experience using art production tools such as Photoshop, Houdini, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Maya, or 3DS Max.
• Knowledge of source control workflows, preferably with Perforce.
• Ability to work collaboratively across various disciplines and adapt quickly based on feedback.
