This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals (Form 1040), corporations (Form 1120/1120S), partnerships (Form 1065), and/or trusts and estates (Form 1041) as necessary.
• Accurately enter financial information and relevant documentation into Lacerte tax software.
• Review prior-year returns, financial statements, and source documents to guarantee completeness and precision.
• Identify applicable deductions, credits, and tax planning opportunities for each client.
• Ensure that all returns are prepared in accordance with current federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Communicate professionally with clients to collect missing documentation, clarify financial information, and explain tax outcomes.
• Respond promptly to client inquiries regarding return status, tax notices, and filing questions.
• Uphold a high standard of client service that aligns with the firm's reputation for accuracy and professionalism.
• Conduct a self-review of completed returns prior to submission to ensure accuracy and reduce errors.
• Collaborate with senior staff and managers during the review process to address questions and resolve discrepancies.
• Stay informed about changes in tax law, IRS guidelines, and state tax regulations that impact client filings.
• Maintain comprehensive and organized client files, including source documents, workpapers, and signed authorizations.
• Monitor return status and deadlines to ensure timely filing and extension requests when necessary.
• Clearly document tax positions and notes within the return for review and audit purposes.
• Assist with quarterly estimated tax calculations and year-end tax planning for clients as directed.
• Highlight potential tax issues or planning opportunities to senior staff or management.
• Support the preparation of tax projections and analyses for client consultations.
• Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing.
• Proficiency with Lacerte tax software, the primary platform used by the firm for tax preparation.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns in a public accounting environment.
• Strong working knowledge of federal and state income tax regulations.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a dedication to accuracy in all deliverables.
• Capability to manage a high volume of returns during peak tax season while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for client interactions.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
