This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the review of U.S. federal and state tax compliance for funds with crypto-related investments.
• Reconcile digital asset transactions across wallets, exchanges, custodians, and internal systems to ensure accuracy in tax reporting.
• Analyze crypto transactions that have tax reporting implications, including staking rewards, token swaps, NFTs, stablecoins, and internal transfers.
• Aid in tracking tax basis and maintain transaction-level workpapers alongside supporting documentation.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in transactions, missing activities, and reporting exceptions.
• Execute tax-related operational tasks linked to fund accounting and digital asset reporting workflows.
• Assist in research and documentation of complex crypto tax matters and the evolving requirements for digital asset reporting.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with fund accounting, finance, legal, engineering, and operations teams to gather information and resolve reporting challenges.
• Conduct evaluations and tests of proprietary systems to support the accuracy and scalability of reporting.
• Identify and implement process enhancements to optimize workflows related to crypto tax.
• Mentor and support Associates and Senior Associates by reviewing their work, providing feedback, assisting with workflow management, and aiding in onboarding and training on tax processes and systems.
• Contribute to the documentation and operational processes as the crypto tax function expands.
• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant tax experience and/or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Proficient understanding of federal and state tax concepts and reporting requirements.
• Experience with crypto transactions, wallets, exchanges, and digital asset reporting workflows.
• Familiarity with tax reporting concepts related to crypto, including staking, SAFTs, warrants, token transfers, liquidity activities, and tracking the basis of digital assets.
• Experience in researching and analyzing complex tax and transaction issues.
• Ability to independently identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and propose solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and work within evolving systems and tools.
• CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or an equivalent designation) is required or in progress.
