This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Deliver a range of administrative support functions, varying from simple to moderately complex, to the tax department concerning tax processes and procedures.
• Assist the tax department in areas including corporate income tax, sales and use tax, annual reports, business licenses, and property tax.
• Address inquiries and requests from clients and vendors, which may include report generation, accounting/tax software questions, and any related concerns or issues.
• Aid in the basic preparation and filing of corporate annual reports, business license registrations, information returns, and other assorted regulatory compliance tasks.
• Create, revise, and maintain purchase requisitions and purchase orders for the tax department.
• Help prepare responses to federal and state government tax notices and other miscellaneous communications.
• Support the management of W-9 forms received and issued, as well as sales and use tax exemption and resale certificates.
• Compile supporting workpapers for US federal and state income/franchise tax returns, state and local sales and use tax, and personal property tax audits.
• Assemble tax returns by exporting data files and printing necessary documentation using various tax software.
• Prepare certified mailing documents to ensure timely delivery of tax returns to the post office in accordance with federal, state, and local tax filing deadlines.
• An associate degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in an office setting providing administrative support.
• Familiarity with accounting best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with intermediate skills in Excel and Word.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a dynamic environment.
