This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Engage collaboratively across departments on projects, serving as the Finance and Accounting team's representative from a Tax standpoint.
• Operate within Avalara and state/local jurisdictions to ensure accurate tax filings.
• Effectively manage tax notices, including necessary system adjustments.
• Participate in significant tax initiatives such as system upgrades.
• Supervise the handling of exemption certificates and ensure that non-taxed statuses are accurately reflected.
• Prepare and review returns for Sales Tax, Franchise Tax, and Gross Receipts Tax.
• Conduct month-end reconciliations for accounts related to taxes.
• Maintain a tax compliance calendar for all relevant taxes.
• Assist in audits for state and local non-income taxes.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
• At least 2 years of experience in tax compliance, including sales and non-income tax, as well as property tax.
• Experience in preparing business licenses for a nationally publicly traded retail company, including E-Commerce, is essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel & PowerPoint is required.
• Preferred experience with NetSuite and Avalara.
