This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and perform interpretations in a professional and friendly manner.
• Accurately convey concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocols, ensuring no omissions or additions.
• Communicate clearly in both languages, utilizing proper pronunciation, enunciation, and courteous expressions.
• Uphold a professional demeanor throughout all interpreting sessions.
• Maintain composure during interpreting sessions, especially when one of the primary speakers may be unclear or distressed, such as in emergency scenarios like 911 calls.
• Adhere to punctuality and availability standards during designated work hours.
• Follow client directives in alignment with protocols to meet client expectations with the Limited English-speaking Person (LEP), ensuring no interaction occurs with the LEP without the client's consent.
• Familiarize yourself with protocols and terminology across various sectors, including but not limited to Medical, Insurance, Finance, and Law.
• Show a commitment to cultural sensitivity and thrive in a diverse working environment.
• Proficiency in Sylheti and English, with a strong understanding of the associated cultural dynamics.
• Capability to provide cultural competency and recognize regional and accent variations to effectively communicate with the LEP.
• Exceptional listening, retention, and note-taking abilities to ensure a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
• Capacity to concentrate, remain detached from discussions, maintain neutrality and objectivity, especially in sensitive topics such as end-of-life discussions, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender expression.
• Preferred educational background or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation, or interpretation.
• Ability to adapt to LLS technology advancements that enhance service delivery and fulfill client requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• Candidates currently employed by a client of LanguageLine Solutions or an associated LanguageLine Solutions business may not be eligible for consideration.
• Proficiency in reading and writing the requested languages is highly preferred.
