This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Provide technical support and oversee the proper application of geomechanical criteria in underground mining operations.
• Conduct geotechnical inspections in underground workings to assess the stability of the rock mass.
• Perform and update geomechanical and geological logging using methodologies such as RQD, RMR, Q-System, and GSI.
• Assist in the development, updating, and validation of geomechanical models for the mine.
• Supervise in the field the correct installation and quality of support systems (bolts, cables, mesh, and shotcrete).
• Identify critical geotechnical conditions and promptly communicate risks to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer and operational areas.
• Participate in the stability analysis of excavations and propose preventive and corrective actions.
• Monitor geotechnical instrumentation (extensometers, load cells, convergence monitoring, and other equipment).
• Prepare technical reports, geomechanical maps, and inspection reports.
• Collaborate with Planning, Operations, Engineering, and Safety departments to ensure geomechanical criteria are considered during mine development and exploitation.
• Verify compliance with safety standards, internal procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in training and technical advice for operational personnel on best practices in geomechanics and support systems.
• Assist the Senior Geotechnical Engineer in special continuous improvement projects related to the geomechanical stability of the operation.
• Education: Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geosciences, Geotechnics, or a related field (must be certified).
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years in applied geomechanics related to underground mining.
• Proven experience in: Geomechanical logging.
• Stability assessment of excavations.
• Supervision of support systems.
• Field geotechnical inspections.
• Underground mining operations.
• Technical knowledge in Geomechanics and mining operations.
• Rock mechanics applied to underground mining.
• Geomechanical classifications: RMR, Q-System, GSI, and RQD.
• Evaluation of stability in underground excavations.
• Support systems: Rock bolts.
• Cables.
• Welded mesh.
• Shotcrete.
• Underground mining methods.
• Interpretation of geological and geomechanical information.
• Geotechnical instrumentation and deformation monitoring.
• Software: Vulcan.
• Deswik.
• Rocscience (RS2/Fase2).
• FLAC3D (desirable).
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
