Structural Designer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Delivering structural design and drafting assistance

• Creating 3D models utilizing Advanced Steel and integrating them into RISA

• Producing drawings for reinforced concrete and structural steel with Advanced Steel

• Evaluating designs of structures, building envelope systems, and structural components while following established guidelines and client specifications

• Interpreting intricate drawings that merge interfacing civil, structural, and architectural design requirements with piping, mechanical, and electrical disciplines

• Generating material take-offs

• Reviewing and conducting quality checks on project documents before issuance to ensure alignment with project standards and specifications

• Offering input on tendering, contract management, scheduling, and budgeting to guarantee project completion to specifications

• Composing and reviewing technical reports, specifications, and construction documents

• Collaborating with vendors, clients, and other essential stakeholders

⛳️ Requirements

• Diploma in Structural Engineering Technology or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution

• Over 7 years of progressive experience as a Structural Designer on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects

• Familiarity with both greenfield and brownfield projects

• Experience in Structural, Concrete, and Platework design plant layout, including crushing, grinding, materials handling, flotation, CIL/CIP, slurry, pumping, slurry agitation, particle size classification, and separation is highly valued

• Knowledge of structural BIM and analysis software such as Revit, Advanced Steel, and RISA is considered an asset

• Understanding of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
